Loops For The Troops

It was a beautiful day on Sunday as the race wound it’s way around North Glenmore Park.  It was a great turnout with even the Stampede Queen and Princesses showing up.  The Calgary Stars Gymnastics team were onsite and did a fantastic job of cheering on the runners.

We had some great runners out there including several soldiers training for the 2010 Mountain Man Exercise.  For that they will run 32k with a 15Kg Rucksack, then a 3.2km canoe portage followed by a 10k paddle on the river then a quick 5.6k march to the finish line.  Kudos to them!

The Calgary Race has been posted on Running Room.

It will be on Father’s Day June 20th, 2010 and will have a 10k, 5k and the Military Mile walk available. Scheduled to start at 9am it will be at the Glenmore Reservoir just like last year. (more…)

Let’s make 2010 a record breaking year!

The support for the Loops event is extremely heartfelt. The money from the event will help support the memories of those lost in battle and help comfort the families of our soldiers. Thank you for your support.

It was a great turnout yesterday morning and the cool weather was great for the runners. Everyone was in high spirit to honor Canada’s fallen troops and those still in service. It was amazing hearing about the troops in Kandahar that ran in full combat gear in 35ºC. (more…)
